A Day in the Life of an HVAC Service Manager 

The HVAC Service Manager position is responsible for supervising, managing and supporting the HVAC service technician and installer group including managing the day to day operations of all reporting HVAC service technicians and ensuring that all company policies are being followed. The HVAC Service Manager is also the first line of technical support for all direct reporting HVAC technicians. This position oversees the technical training program and works with leadership to develop technicians and installers to ensure team members receive the training they need. The HVAC Service Manager interacts with the scheduling coordinators to manage project scheduling, manpower utilization, parts availability, and overall workflow to maximize profits and efficiency. This position also interacts with the HVAC sales team to ensure customer satisfaction of systems sold and serviced. The HVAC Service Manager is responsible for maintaining HVAC service department safety compliance and fully understands and applies industry standard safety practices and monitors and enforces technician's compliance to those practices and company safety policies. The HVAC Service Manager keeps current with latest factory training on current products and ensures technicians maintain proficiency in preventative maintenance, startup, troubleshooting, and repairs of supported equipment.

What you Need to be Qualified for the HVAC Service Manager Position

In order to be qualified for the HVAC Service Manager position, a minimum of 3 years' management experience is required, preferably in a trade industry. Communication is key for this position and the ability to instruct technicians and installers is imperative. We need our HVAC Service Manager to be great with coaching and building team members through accountability and clearly set expectations. Organizational skills and leadership skills are necessary for the HVAC Service Manager position as well as strong customer service skills to ensure customer satisfaction. The ideal individual will be competent in current HVAC technology and be able to train others in that technology. Our HVAC Service Manager must have the ability to work closely with the rest of the Management team to assist in business development initiatives.
